Nestled away from the majority of lodges on the Kinabatangan River you will find Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort. A fantastic lodge situated deep in an important wetland where you can partake in wildlife viewing activities that guarantee a wealth of biodiversity.
In the secluded wilderness of the Lower Kinabatangan, Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort is surrounded by ancient mangroves and groves of nipah palms. This remote but immaculate lodge has 20 spacious chalets, each equipped with en suite bathrooms featuring both indoor and outdoor showers, along with air-conditioning and a verandah which faces into the forest. Raised walkways connect the chalets and main area, allowing guests to comfortably survey the forest in search of wildlife and birdlife between activities. Other amenities include an open dining room, a comfortable seating area and library.
The property is located in the secluded Lower Kinabatangan-Segama Wetlands, a wetland conservation area of international importance and the largest in Malaysia, covering an area greater than Singapore. Activities mostly take place on the river, as you search the waterways for a plethora of species including orangutan, pig-tailed and long-tailed macaques, Bornean pygmy elephants and rhinoceros hornbill to name a few.

The Kinabatangan River snakes through Sabah’s lowlands for 560kms to reach the Sulu Sea. Along its length, a river safari will reveal a mosaic of riparian forest, oxbow lakes, nipah swamp and mangroves which supports a wide variety of mammal and birdlife who have grown surprisingly tolerant of human presence.
